Watch Alice In Wonderland – Burton’s most up-to-date pitches its heroine headfirst with a return trip down the rabbit-hole. In the bottom, Alice runs throughout murderers, madmen and dragons, but proceeds to deal with them all with identical wry acceptance, reasoning this can be her desire so she can as a result behave as she pleases. It is definitely an attitude that Burton clearly approves of. The books of Lewis Carroll might have supplied his underpinning and inspiration, but he sets about Wonderland having a giddy irreverence. It can be his movie and he can do what he likes.
